My first Dubstep song...

I never made dubstep music before, so I thought I would try to make it. I normally do experimental/new age/trance synthesized musics, with my DAW, and my Korg Triton Studio synthesizer.

Let me know if you like it, or what I can do in it to make it better. It's only about 3 min long, I started getting frustrated because I was trashing so many bad ass samples I spent hours working on (lots of breaks, and modulated waveforms), only because they didn't seem to be working with the song.

If any of you guys are interested in the samples, or even the source file for the mix... let me know.

Yeah, I kinda made it more like trance/ambient. That's the type of music I am used to making. I added some Persian pecussion samples to add a little flavor to it as well as a lot of ambient textures. I tried to not add too much distorted modulated samples and drops, though some of the bassy drops I added made it difficult to add specific synths I made for the song.

WOOSH? Are you talking about the Bass, Arps, or the lead synth? Or are you talking about a specific modulated waveform that is not in the song?
Can you point to a time marker in the song for the sample source you're talking about? Anything to help me make this better would help.

Like around 2:00 to 2:12'ish, the bassish stuff could be faster around that point and a bit more prominent, and integrated into more parts of the song

No really, it was pretty damn good though

I guess when I see dubstep I just expect Klaypex :p

What programs are you using to create the music?

Thanks, ElGato I appreciate the feedback.

I made the main song that I posted, using recordings at around 140 bpm. Some of them were beat matched from 120 bpm and some from 145 bpm. Mixed everything myself, and took samples from my synthesizer, and some RF sources. You're welcome to use it Boss, it's only about 3 mins though :/

I don't know about these other guys' music though, you have to ask them. But the one at the top was my first attempt at making my own dubstep music. Don't know if I'll do it again. Because it was a pain in the ass.

What programs do I use to make this?

Sony Acid pro (mixing/MIDI)
Sony Soundforge (sample editing)
Adobe Soundbooth (sample editing)
Camel Audio Alchemy (Modulation/Soundform editor VST)

Camel audio Alchemy is INCREDIBLE, it allows you to control the sounds with full range, and dynamic textures. You can modulate multiple samples and use them in the same multisample, which is playable via MIDI and has adjustable modulation knobs and modulation presets to control the modulation in realtime during recording..

Other great producer programs:
Reason
FL Studio
Renoise (Revamped modtracker)
