If a cheat is detected the first time:
Nobody can say how long it takes because VAC uses delayed bans and they don't give any informations about it.
If a cheat is detected and "in their data base" (example: you use a cheat which was first detected a few month ago and they already banned people for the cheat):
Then you get an instant ban.
