Most games where you don't pay monthly don't get much support. I used-to be against paying for mmo games monthly. But I've found you get what you pay for. (Just like when you buy hacks)
Korean based MMO's die fast or become free very fast. Due to the market being different.
Free WoW is not that fun. I've been there, done that. Found official servers much more fun (at least when playing while using hacks).
Aion is pretty good, you need to get into it though. The UI is not very user friendly. But that is also Pay to play.
If you really want a free mmo, check out games from Ijji - but most of them are Korean-made MMO's.
Also being a nerd to play MMO's? Playing any game very well, (without the aid of hacks) require you to be something of a nerd.
