Now the fun part finding the the thing and get rid of it.
Some of thesse virus change your reg setting so can be hard to find.

If I were you I'd consider trying to run the HDD drive as a slave - moving the files to the connected master drive - and then scan them all.

As far as the laptop - once the files have been recovered - id flatten that shiznit and reformat. Also - anytime you plan on downloading ANYTHING on the internet - have a antivirus program that also has a threat sensing type function. NOD32 is one of the ones I really like.
