From all the reviews I have read they say the 4870 is the best bang for buck.
I personally have a 4870 and I am very happy with it. Plus the ATi 48xx series is DX10.1 where as Nvidia cards are still at DX10 and as LMK says, ATi cards have alot less driver issues than what Nvidia do.
